FAQ’s

What is The Vessel?

The Vessel is a new movement practice for creatives. Drawing inspiration from Butoh, yoga, Jungian Dreamwork, and dancefloors around the world, The Vessel helps you quiet your mind and connect to your body. This is where your creative impulse comes alive.

What can I expect from my first class?

Every class is different, but the journey will become familiar the more you practice! The class is set to music, and you’ll work primarily with your eyes closed. Austen will guide you through yoga sequences, bursts of ecstatic movement, and image-based sensory exploration. There are moments of guided meditation, active imagination exercises, some breathwork, and an invitation for written and verbal reflection.

The Vessel leans into the unknown. There’s no set goal or destination, but the practice is structured to bring you into a state of greater curiosity.

I don’t consider myself “a creative.” Is this practice for me?

Yes! The Vessel is for anyone who wants to reaquaint themself with their innermost voice. (Fringe benefits may include reclaiming your inherent creativity).

What should I bring to class?

You’ll need a yoga mat and a journal. Wear clothes you can move in, bring a water bottle, and arrive well-fueled.

Are there scholarships available?

Accessibility is one of Austen’s core values. If the price of class is a barrier, reach out.

I can’t make it this December. Will there be other opportunities to take class?

The December 2025 workshop is the first of many. Join the mailing list to receive updates on future opportunities!
